Blue Murder (NY: Phoenix Press, 1938; Miami Beach [Florida]: McMillan, 1987);
(also -
Rialto [California]: Pulpville Press, 2005)

[
BOOK DESCRIPTION (Pulpville Press): Duke Pizzatello, private investigator, was employed by the Kohlar brothers, Steve and Joe. Dixie Parker was the private secretary of Steve Kohlar. Gertie Kohlar was the wife of Joe and was an eye-full. Nelia Mason, wife of Dr. Carney Mason, was seeking evidence on the infidelity of her husband with his nurse, Myra Holly. Dr. Mason's partner, Dr. Sebring, also had a crush on the nurse. Then all hell broke loose. Dr. Mason was found with a bullet through his brain and a naked, skinned, female was found dead on his examination table and Duke Pizzatello was up to his throat in crime and underdressed women.
-- (Miami Beach, FL: McMillan, 1987): With an introduction by Bill Pronzini]
The Vice Czar Murders (NY: Wilfred Funk and Wagnalls, 1941; Rialto [California]: Pulpville Press, 2006) as Franklin Charles [joint pseudonym with Cleve F. Adams]

[*originated from a pulp novelette, "Song of Hate" by Cleve F. Adams (August, 1938, Double Detective);
Adams commissioned his friend Bellem to do an extended rewrite. Adams' agent, August Lenniger, also had a hand in the rewrite and, in fact, Adams' dedication of the novel reads, "To Robert Leslie Bellem and August Lenniger: co-pilots on a somewhat devious voyage." Bellem's personal copy carries this inscription to his wife, Blanche: "To my sweet BeBe - who doesn't care for this because I only wrote a part of it - and who'd expect a wife to enthuse over 'Franklin Charles' when he's merely one-half of Robert Leslie Bellem?" (from "The Further Adventures of Robert Leslie Bellem or, The Bellem-Adams Connection",  article by Stephen Mertz);

BOOK DESCRIPTION (Pulpville Press): Written by Cleve F. Adams and Robert Leslie Bellem as Franklin Charles. Bill Rock worked for the District Attorney. He was assigned to help clean up vice in the city. He was at the burlesque theater to find a girl. When he was invited to her room, he found her dead--and he was charged with murder!

Liability Limited (NY: Mill, 1947; Rialto [California]: Pulpville Press, 2006) as John A. Saxon.  Sam Welpton-1
aka (British title): This Was No Accident (London: Foulsham, 1949)

[BOOK DESCRIPTION (Pulpville Press): Written under one of Bellem's pen names--John A. Saxon--it is a prequel to "Half-Past Mortem".
"Just a routine assignment," the Los Angeles office told Sam Welpton, insurance investigator and claims adjuster. But what they didn't tell him was that this job, which began as an accident claim investigation, would turn into a murder case--with Sam the most likely suspect.
--(Ace Double Novel): "Liability Limited" - Tough, Lusty in the James M. Caine Tradition - CUE. ]

Half-Past Mortem (NY: Mill, 1947; London: Foulsham, 1951) as John A. Saxon.  Sam Welpton-2
(also - Rialto [California]: Pulpville Press, 2006)

[BOOK DESCRIPTION (Pulpville Press): Written under one of Bellem's pen names--John A. Saxon--it is a sequel to "Liability Limited".
Said Dick Lane, "You don't need a lawyer, Sam. You need a magician to get you out of this jam." Sam Welpton had been called to investigate a road accident; there was a dent on the car, blood on the road, but no victim. Before he had solved this mystery, Sam found himself married to a woman he scarcely knew and spending his honeymoon in jail. To complicate things still further, a man was found dead in his hotel room and an attempt was made on his own life. But it was Sam himself who sorted out the mess, and he was no magician, just an insurance claims expert with a flair for finding trouble.
--
"Half-Past Mortem" by Robert Leslie Bellem writing as John A. Saxon. "Half-Past Mortem" is the follow-up story to "Liability Limited" (aka "This Was No Accident") and follows Sam Whelpton as he attempts to uncover and untangle the mystery surrounding an automobile accident where the victim is found missing!
--Ghost-written by Bellem. One of two books featuring hardboiled Sam Welpton.]

The Window with the Sleeping Nude (Kingston, NY: Handi-Books/Quinn Publishing Company, Inc, 1950; Rialto [California]: Pulpville Press, 2006)

[
BOOK DESCRIPTION (Pulpville Press): Without such a monumental hangover that rainy morning, Store Detective Barney Cunard might have chuckled at the naked clothes dummy so bawdily displayed on his desk. But the subsequent discovery of the very nude, very real and very dead body of Nora Gleason in the green-hued window of Westervelt's Department Store was no joke!]
Contraband, by Cleve F. Adams (NY: Knopf, 1950).
aka (British title): Borderline Cases, by Cleve F. Adams (London: Cassell, 1952)

[*completed by Robert Leslie Bellem]
No Wings on a Cop, by Cleve F. Adams (Kingston, NY: Handi-Books/Quinn, 1950) [with Adams' series character John J. Shannon]

[*expanded by Robert Leslie Bellem, from a pulp novelet by Adams;
the main character is police detective lieutenant Shannon, that is a prequel to the Adams novel "The Private Eye", 1942
]
Shady Lady, by Cleve F. Adams (NY: Ace, 1955) [with Adams' series character Rex McBride]

[*Robert Leslie Bellem worked on it, as an uncredited collaborator]
Doctor of Lesbos (NY: Beacon Press, 1963) as Anthony Gordon
The Sex Ladder (NY: Beacon Press, 1964; also - Rialto [California]: Pulpville Press, 2006, 190pp.) as Anthony Gordon
[*published (‘70, Softcover Library) as a SLEAZY PAPERBACK NOVEL "The Sex Ladder" by Anthony Gordon;

BOOK DESCRIPTION (Pulpville Press): Written by Robert Leslie Bellem under the Anthony Gordon penname, this is one of at least two adult novels which he wrote. While a little more explicit than his spicy work, it is still very tame compared to today's standards. It is a love story of Janie and Gil, and of all the troubles which come from Janie attempting to lead Gil to the best job available for his talents (packaging). When I first began reading it, I was dubious as to its quality and the story content, but being a Bellem novel, it turned out to be a good read.
--Written by Robert Leslie Bellem writing as Anthony Gordon. Better known for his stories of Dan Turner, Hollywood Detective, Bellem was a prolific writer whose yarns covered many genres, including adult fiction. At least two novels are known: The Sex Ladder and Doctor of Lesbos. We will be reprinting both novels. While this is termed an Adult book, it is only slightly more descriptive than Bellem's Spicy work, and is much less explicit than many of our mystery and science fiction stories of today. When I first began working on it, I was a little dubious as to its quality, but I found it very entertaining and can recommend it to Bellem's fans.]

[BOOK DESCRIPTION: 195 Pages Paperback. A bookful of Dan Turner stories. From the pages of Spicy Detective, Speed Detective, and Hollywood Detective, here are 13 action packed Dan Turner stories complete with original illustrations and an introduction by John Wooley.
--224 Pages paperback. A tough, no-nonsense Hollywood private eye, Dan Turner was written with gusto by pulp scribe Robert Leslie Bellem. This volume includes 13 never before reprinted gems, spanning nearly two decades of rough and tumble adventures. Bellem's writing style was filled with colorful euphemisms and similes. It's this writing style that gives Turner his greatest appeal. Each story comes complete with the original spot illustrations that showed the meaning of "Spicy" in the original pulp magazine that published these stories, Spicy Detective. A real page-turner from beginning to end, Roscoes In The Night is destined to be a favorite of the pulp fans.
---Long-verdue collection of stories from Robert Leslie Bellem (1984-1968) the creator of Dan Turner, Hollywood Detective, most of which originally appeared in pulp magazines like SPICY DETECTIVE. Fast-paced and laugh-out-loud funny, these tales are full of cartoonish violence and endless variations on decribing the female anatomy, especially breasts ("Pert tiddly-winks," "Perky pretty-pretties"). Set in and around the movie biz, Bellem's work is like some crazed hybrid of James Ellroy and Moe Howard. Great 30's lingo, a mix of slang, rebop, and pig-latin ("She had what it takes to drive a man utsnay."). After the pulp market dried up, Bellem finished his career writing for television, but the Perry Mason episodes he wrote don't hold a candle to the zany, sexed-up prose on display in these spicy tales. Highly recommended. Reviewer: J. M. Dobies (Florida) from Amazon.com]
